日本大学大学院芸術学研究科博士後期課程満期退学。

作曲を綿村松輝、湯浅譲二の各氏に師事。

西洋楽器での作品と並行して、薩摩琵琶をはじめ邦楽器を用いた作品を作曲。

国際現代琵琶楽会の演奏会などで作品を発表する。

2007 年、凛アートプロジェクト主催の公演にテーマ作曲家として取り上げられ、サントリーホー

ル小ホールにおいて「音楽展～作曲家・山口紘～」が開催される。

2010 年、トーキョーワンダーサイト主催EXPERIMENTAL SOUND, ART & PERFORMANCE

FESTIVAL に、メディア・パフォーマンス作品「無数の終焉／終演」で入選。

大学学部卒業後、コンピューターを使用したElectronic Musicの作曲や即興演奏を始める。

2010 年、アイルランドの電子音楽祭sonic vigil に電子音楽作品「The leaf was uprooted」を出品。

2011 年より、blanClass（横浜）、explosion tokyo（西麻布）、空宇宙室（横浜）などの現代アート

やコンテンポラリーダンスなどのパフォーマンスを中心としたアートプロジェクトにおいて、作品

発表やライブを行う。

2012 年、explosion tokyo において、サウンド・インスタレーション「供養する人間たち」を中心と

した単独の展覧会を開催。

2012 年10 月より、空宇宙室での実験音楽の定期公演企画「The Port Program N°8」を監修する。

大学院芸術学研究科では、イタリアの現代作曲家ルイジ・ノーノ Luigi Nono を研究。2011 年、研究の

一環としてノーノの作品 “Post-Prae-Ludium per Donau”の日本初演をふくむレクチャーコンサートを

開催。

2013年からサウンドアーティストの中川敏光氏と共同で、配信リリースとライブ・アート企画を中心としたレーベルSpeechを主宰。

2013年、Speechから1stアルバム「Chairs of Grass」を発表。

2012年より、演劇・コンテンポラリーダンス（Antikame?、singing dog、Rie Tashiro、水越朋、etc.）などの舞台音楽と音響を多数担当。

以後、舞台音楽のサウンドトラックや自身の作品を多数配信リリース。

2021年、Utzho名義の1stアルバム「Stand on the Horizon」をPROGRESSIVE FOrMよりリリース。

2022年、Utzho名義の2ndアルバム「Frames of Decay」をAtypeek Musicよりリリース。

Hiromu Yamaguchi withdrew from the Doctoral Program at the Graduate School of Art, Nihon University, after completing all coursework.

He studied composition under MATSUMURA Shoko and YUASA Joji.

Alongside works for Western instruments, he has also composed pieces incorporating traditional Japanese instruments, including the Satsuma biwa.

His compositions have been performed at concerts organized by the International Contemporary Biwa Music Society and other venues.

In 2007, he was featured as the theme composer in a concert series hosted by Rin Art Project, and “Music Exhibition: Composer Hiromu Yamaguchi” was held at Suntory Hall’s Blue Rose (Small Hall).

In 2010, his media performance work Countless Endings / Final Performance was selected for the “EXPERIMENTAL SOUND, ART & PERFORMANCE FESTIVAL” hosted by Tokyo Wonder Site.

After graduating from university, he began composing electronic music using computers and engaging in improvisational performance.

In 2010, his electronic work The Leaf Was Uprooted was presented at Sonic Vigil, an electronic music festival in Ireland.

Since 2011, he has presented works and live performances in art projects focused on contemporary art and performance (including contemporary dance), at venues such as blanClass (Yokohama), explosion tokyo (Nishiazabu), and Kūuchūshitsu (Yokohama).

In 2012, he held a solo exhibition at explosion tokyo centered around the sound installation The Mourning Humans.

From October 2012, he curated a regular experimental music series titled The Port Program N°8 at Kūuchūshitsu.

At the Graduate School of Art, he conducted research on the Italian contemporary composer Luigi Nono. In 2011, as part of this research, he organized a lecture concert including the Japanese premiere of Nono's Post-Prae-Ludium per Donau.

Since 2013, he has co-run the label Speech with sound artist Toshimitsu Nakagawa, focusing on digital releases and live art projects.

In 2013, he released his first album Chairs of Grass through Speech.

Since 2012, he has composed and designed sound for numerous stage works, including theater and contemporary dance (Antikame?, singing dog, Rie Tashiro, Tomo Mizukoshi, etc.).

He has since released many soundtracks for stage productions as well as his own works via digital distribution.

In 2021, under the alias Utzho, he released his debut album Stand on the Horizon from PROGRESSIVE FOrM.

In 2022, he released his second album as Utzho, Frames of Decay, via Atypeek Music.
